Disability Accommodations

Accommodations are determined on a case by case basis in order to determine what is appropriate for each student. Please note this is not an all inclusive list. The following services are provided on an “as needed” and approved basis:

Exam Administration

Exam Administration/Proctoring is provided upon arrangement with instructors. This service is for SDS registered students with disabilities who need to tape record responses, require extended test time, or require the assistance of a scribe or assistive technology.

Note-Taking

Some students have difficulty taking notes due to their disability. Note-Taking assistance may be provided for students who have limited use of their hands/arms, are hearing or visually impaired, or have learning/cognitive challenges that limit them from being able to take classroom lecture notes traditionally. UMBC promotes the use of audiorecording note-taking solutions to support students with note-taking challenges. An SDS disability specialist can discuss the various note-taking solutions that a student with a disability may be eligible for.
